MEDINA COLLEGE, NEWPORT - NEW RESOURCED PROVISION
1. Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006, that Isle of Wight Council intends to make a prescribed alteration to MEDINA COLLEGE, Fairlee Road, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 2DX (category of school -community) by increasing the capacity of the school, with effect from 31st August 2021.

2. The objectives of the proposal are to provide a new resourced provision based at Medina College School to accommodate pupils in the secondary age range (11-16) with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties on the Isle of Wight.

3. The current capacity of Medina College is 1200 places, plus Sixth Form, and it is proposed to create capacity at a new resourced provision at the school by offering initially 10 new places, expanding to 15 places in total for September 2022. This will not affect the overall capacity of mainstream places at Medina College.

4. A minimal amount of capital funding of up to £0.01 million is required to make the required alterations to the temporary accommodation for September 2021. It is anticipated that a further funding of up to £0.10 million will be required to create the permanent accommodation for September 2022.
