Temporary Traffic Management Order - Ferry Road, Studland
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order has imposed clearway restrictions [including tow-away provisions) on FERRY ROAD, STUDLAND (in both directions), for a distance of approximately 3.6 kilometres. It came into operation at 00.01 hrs on Saturday 22 May 2021, will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary. However, it is anticipated that the Order will remain in place until 23.59hrs, Monday 1 November 2021.
This Order is required to prevent illegal parking on the carriageway to ensure that access is maintained for emergency service vehicles, service buses and the travelling public, and for the safety of all highway users.
The new clearway restrictions apply to that part of the carriageway between the single yellow lines on Ferry Road between a point approximately SO metres south of the vehicle access to Knoll House Hotel, Studland and approximately 125 metres south of the toll booths at Shell Bay, a distance of approximately 3.6 kilometres. This clearway will run in conjunction with the existing permanent Controlled Parking Zone Order, which prohibits waiting on the carriageway and verges in this area between the hours of midnight and 06.30hrs. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
The new clearway restrictions will also run in conjunction with the existing permanent No Waiting between 10am and 7pm, between 15 March and 30 September restrictions where they overlap on Ferry Road, Studland.
