(BOURNES GREEN SCHOOLS) (PEDESTRIAN AND CYCLE) EXPERIMENTAL ORDER 2021
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, on the 17th May 2021, acting as the local highway authority, made an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order under Section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act"), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act, the effect of which be as follows:
1. Introduce a pedestrian and cycle only zone in the following location
Burlescoombe Road - from its junction with Chadacre Road to its junction with Moat End The zones will operate
Term time only-Monday to Friday between 8:10am - 9:10am and 2:40pm - 3:40pm. Resident within the zone will be able to apply for permits exempting them from the restrictions above.
2. Introduce No Waiting Monday-Friday 8.00am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4.30pm on the west side of Ladram Road from approx.15m south of its junction with Burlescoombe Road southwards for a distance of approx.30m.
The Experimental Order shall come into operation on 24th May 2021 and shall remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months during which time the Council will monitor the scheme and consider representations made to it before deciding whether or not to introduce a permanent scheme. Within a period of six months from the Experimental Order coming into force, or if that order is subsequently varied by another order under that Section or modified pursuant to sub-section 2 of Section 10 of the Act, from the coming into operation of that variation or modification (whichever is the latest), any person may object to the making of the order permanent.
Objections to the provisions of this Experimental Order being made permanent, together with the grounds on which they are made, must be sent in writing to Executive Director (Neighbourhoods & Environment) and marked for the attention of the Consultation and Engagement Team at the address below by no later than 17th November 2021 or email
