A1089 TRUNK ROAD, TILBURY TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice Is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A1089 Trunk Road in the Unitary Authority of Thurrock, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to authorise the overnight operation of a contraflow, under alternating traffic signal control, to the effect that the southbound carriageway of the A1089 between Asda Roundabout (hereafter known as "the roundabout") and the Tilbury Docks entrance junction shall be closed, and no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed in the northbound carriageway in any direction other than southbound, when directed to do so.
When the above control is in operation, a mandatory 20mph speed restriction would be imposed on:
a) both carriageways of the A1089 between a point 30 metres north of the roundabout and the roundabout itself;

b) the whole of the roundabout;

c) the northbound carriageway of the A1089 between a point approximately 145 metres southwest of the centreline of the Docks entrance junction and the roundabout (to both directions of flow);

d) the southbound carriageway of the A1089 between the centreline of the Docks entrance junction and a point approximately 115 metres southwest of that junction;

e) Dock Road (A126) northbound between the roundabout and a point approximately 55 metres south of it, and southbound between the roundabout and point approximately 90 metres south of it; and

f) Thurrock Park Way eastbound between the roundabout and a point approximately 70 metres west of it, and westbound between the roundabout and a point approximately 55 metres west of it.

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge joint replacement and associated structural maintenance, resurfacing and surveys.
It is expected that the work would last for approximately 2 weeks starting on or after Monday 15th March 2021.
The overnight closure/contraflow and speed restrictions would take place
between the following hours: (maximum periods)
Monday - Thursday 22:00 - 05:30
Friday 23:00 - 06:00
Saturday 22:00 - 06:00
Sunday 22:30 - 05:30

The Order would come into force on 13 March 2021 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
The temporary contraflow and speed restrictions would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
