M4 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 12) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the M4 Motorway in the Unitary Authority of West Berkshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to authorise the overnight closure of -
1. the circulatory system at M4 Junction 12 between -

(a) the slip road leading to the M4 westbound and the westbound carriageway of the A4 at the roundabout; and

(b) the slip road leading to the London-bound carriageway of the M4 and the London-bound carriageway of the A4 at the roundabout;

2. the slip road leading to the westbound carriageway of the M4 at Junction 12 (A4); and

3. the slip road leading from the London-bound carriageway of the M4 at Junction 12 (A4).

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake electrical works, installation of a new maintenance bay and all associated works.
It is expected that the work wouldlast for approximately 15 weeks starting on or after Monday 1st March 2021. The overnight closures would take place between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum period).
The Order would come into force on 27th February 2021 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted via other junctions of the M4 or by using the A4, A329, A340 and the A4155.
The diversion route will vary depending on the closure in force.
The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
