Temporary Closure of Public Footpath 32, Shaftesbury
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic [Temporary Restrictions] Act 1991. All pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along part of Footpath 32, Shaftesbury between the A350 and Kingsettle Wood for a distance of approximately 230 metres. The order is needed to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It came into operation on 31 December 2020 for a period of 26 weeks initially. But it will be extended, with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, whilst the construction site is active. This closure is required to allow for residential development to take place on Littledown by Redraw Homes.
An alternative route will be provided and signed, around the northern perimeter of the field.
