NATURAL ENGLAND
Notification and proposed denotification of SSSIs
Notification: Cotswold Water Park Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)
Proposed denotification: part of Cotswold Water Park SSSI
The site consists of a large number of waterbodies located around the towns of South Cerney, Ashton Keynes, Fairford and Lechlade straddling the Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire borders; central national grid reference: SU029942.
Natural England hereby gives notice that on 7 January 2021:
* The boundary of Cotswold Water Park SSSI has been enlarged under section 28C of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, to include more land that is considered to be of special interest.
* Part of Cotswold Water Park SSSI is proposed for denotification under Section 28D of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, because it is not considered to be of special interest.
The enlarged notification under section 28C takes effect immediately. The proposed denotification does not take effect unless and until it is confirmed by Natural England within nine months of the date of the notification under Section 28D. In the meantime, the land proposed for denotification remains part of the notified SSSI.
The SSSI notification document containing the legal papers (a Citation, a Views about Management Statement, a list of operations requiring Natural England's consent and a boundary map), is available online
