DARLINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL - VARIATION OF CAR PARK CHARGES

DARLINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL - VARIATION OF CAR PARK CHARGES
Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 35C and 46A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 that Darlington Borough Council is varying the charges for the use of the on-street and off-street parking places in the following manner:-
1. Any person leaving a vehicle in the off-street parking places listed in Schedule One and East Street Parking Place on a Sunday during the charging hours will receive the first two hours of parking free of charge. A ticket must be obtained from the machine and displayed clearly inside the vehicle at the start of the period of parking and must cover the whole of the period of that vehicle's stay in the parking place, including the first two free hours and any subsequent hours of paid parking. No person shall cause or permit any vehicle to be left in the parking place if a period of less than 1 hour has elapsed since the termination during the charging hours of the last period of waiting (if any) of the vehicle in the same parking place. The charge for stays beyond the free two hours will be £1 for each hour or part thereof for those parking places listed in Schedule One. The charge for stays beyond the free two hours will be £1 per day at East Street Parking Place. Parking in the aforementioned parking places is currently free on a Sunday. The offer of 2 hours free parking Mon-Sat will remain in these parking places.

2. Currently any person leaving a vehicle in the off-street parking places listed in Schedule Two is entitled to do so free of charge for the first two 2 hours of parking during the charging hours Mon-Sat, and free on a Sunday. Also, currently, tickets can be purchased by the hour at Chesnut Street. These offers are to cease and payment in those parking places will be as stated in Schedule Two for the whole period of parking.

3. Any person leaving a vehicle in the Feethams Multi-Storey Parking Place on a Sunday will receive the first two hours of parking free of charge. No person shall cause or permit any vehicle to be left in that parking place if a period of less than 1 hour has elapsed since the termination of the last period of waiting (if any) 8am-6pm Sunday. The charge for stays beyond the free two hours will be £1 for each hour or part thereof. Parking in the aforementioned parking place is currently free on a Sunday. The offer of 2 hours free parking Mon-Sat will remain in this parking place.

4. Currently any person leaving a vehicle in the on-street parking places listed in Schedule Three is entitled to do so free of charge for a maximum stay of 2 hours during the charging hours Mon-Sat, and free on a Sunday. This offer is to cease and payment in those parking places will be as stated in Schedule Three for the whole period of parking.

5. Any person leaving a vehicle in the on-street parking places listed in Schedule Four on a Sunday will be entitled to do so free of charge for a maximum stay of 2 hours during the charging hours. During the charging hours a ticket must be obtained from the machine and displayed clearly inside the vehicle at the start of the period of parking and must cover the whole of the period of that vehicle's stay in the parking place. No person shall cause or permit any vehicle to be left in the parking place if a period of less than 1 hour has elapsed since the termination during the charging hours of the last period of waiting (if any) of the vehicle in the same parking place. The maximum stay for East Row and Horsemarket increases from 30 minutes to 2 hours. For all other parking places in Schedule Four the maximum stay will remain at 2 hours. Parking in the aforementioned parking places is currently free on a Sunday. The offer of 2 hours free parking Mon-Sat will remain in these parking places.

6. Any person leaving a vehicle in the on-street parking places listed in Schedule Five on a Sunday will receive the first two hours of parking free of charge. A ticket must be obtained from the machine and displayed clearly inside the vehicle at the start of the period of parking and must cover the whole of the period of that vehicle's stay in the parking place, including the first two free hours and any subsequent period of paid parking. No person shall cause or permit any vehicle to be left in the parking place if a period of less than 1 hour has elapsed since the termination during the charging hours of the last period of waiting (if any) of the vehicle in the same parking place. The charge for stays beyond the free two hours will remain at 50p for each 30 mins or part thereof for those parking places listed in Schedule Five. The maximum stay will remain at 3 hours. Parking in the aforementioned parking places is currently free on a Sunday. The offer of 2 hours free parking Mon-Sat will remain in these parking places.

The changes will come into effect on the 11th January 2021. The Darlington Borough Council (Off Street Parking Places) Consolidation Order 2019 and the Darlington Borough Council (On Street Parking Places) Consolidation Order 2019 (as amended) are hereby varied as detailed.
