Natural England on behalf of itself

Notice ID:

Notice effective from
28th August 2014, 00:51 to 27th September 2014, 00:51

Natural England on behalf of itself,

Hampshire County Council and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for consent under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006 to carry out restricted works on Martin Common. The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
The proposed works are to continue to use temporary electric fencing to enclose up to 10% of the Common (32 hectares) at any one time for the purposes of grazing and nature conservation. The fencing will allow the common to be grazed effectively for the sustainable management of the nature reserve. The use of temporary fencing is a strategy that takes account of the historic environment and visitor needs whilst being sensitive to the landscape and cultural heritage of the site. The 32 hectares will be the total enclosed in different places on the Common and will be made up of smaller paddocks depending on stock availability and time of year. The temporary fences will not be erected across any of the existing tracks and rights of way, and that we will erect gates if we have to cross an informal path.
A copy of the application form and accompanying documents can be inspected at Martin Village Hall between 9am - 11am and 5pm-6pm until Friday 26th September 2014. A copy of the application form and accompanying documents may be obtained by writing to Robert Lloyd, Natural England, Cherry Lodge Farm, Shrewton, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP3 4ET.
Any objections or representations should be sent in writing ON or BEFORE that date to the Planning Inspectorate at Room 3/25B, Hawk Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN or commonlandcasework@pins.gsi.gov.uk.
Letters sent to the Planning Inspectorate cannot be treated as confidential. They will be copied to the applicant and possibly to other interested parties.
