Temporary Closure of Various Streets, Shaftesbury
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Various Streets, Shaftesbury as stated below:
[i] High Street, Shaftesbury from outside St Peter Church to the junction with Angel Lane;
[ii] Salisbury Street, Shaftesbury from the junction with Coppice Street to Lower Blandford Road;
[iii] Coppice Street, Shaftesbury from the junction with Salisbury Street to Martins Street.
The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 25th January 2021 and will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 6th February 2021. The closures will be in operation as per the following:
[i] From 25th January 2021 until 28th January 2021, the road will be closed daily between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00 but it will be open overnight and at weekends;
[ii] From 29 January 2021 until 6 February 2021, the road will be closed at night between the hours of 19.00 and 06.00 but it will be open daily and at weekends. Even though the dates above coincide, only one road will be closed at any one time. This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.
