COWES POWER STATION Application for Hazardous Substances Consent Notice is hereby given that RWE Generation UK plc is applying to Isle of Wight Council for hazardous substances consent to increase the maximum quantity of gas oil fuel stored at: Cowes Power Station, Kingston Road, EAST COWES, Isle of Wight PO32 6JS from 2,500 tonnes to 8,600 tonnes and to store up to 7 tonnes of an anti-waxing agent for treating gas oil to inhibit formation of wax under winter conditions. The increased quantity of gas oil is required to enable Cowes Power Station to meet the endurance requirements for power stations contracted to assist in the re-establishment of power supplies following incidents in which power supplies on the transmission and distribution networks have been lost. Isle of Wight Council, as hazardous substances authority (from whom relevant information on the application can be obtained), will decide whether or not to grant consent and, if to grant, subject to what conditions.
