Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (RTRA 1984) and Regulation 3 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Procedure Regulations 1992 (SI 1992/1215).
THE BOROUGH OF READING (VICTORIA STREET - AT ITS JUNCTION WITH KINGS ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC) ORDER 2020
Reading Borough Council gives notice it proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the RTRA 1984 and any other enabling powers over an area of the highway on Victoria Street at its junction with Kings Road.
The Order is needed to carry out an upgrade of telecommunication equipment.
If the Order is made, the Order shall come into operation on 23 October 2020 for a period of two days on 16 November 2020 and 29 November 2020 only. In the event, that the works take longer than expected, the Order will remain in operation for 18 months.
The Order will:
Close Victoria Street at its junction with Kings Road and suspend the one way order in Victoria Street in the Borough of Reading (Kings Road inbound bus lane) (Experimental) Order 2007 which came into effect on 7 March 2007 and prohibited the use of the carriageway except for bus, cycle taxi or motorcycle to proceed along the bus lane and to permit any vehicle to proceed along Victoria Street in a direction other than one way from North to South.
