Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended by the Water Act 2003) Notice of application for a transfer licence to abstract (take) water for a previously exempt abstraction Hampshire County Council has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water. The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017. The application is for a licence to abstract (take) water from Broad Oak stream at SU 75504 52017 to transfer it to Basingstoke canal at SU 75504 52017 without intervening use.

Abstraction will take place all year when sufficient water is available to maintain level and flow of the Basingstoke canal. This is a historic transfer of water from the Broad Oak stream to the Basingstoke canal. We are following Government advice to manage the risks of Coronavims to our organisation, to protect the health, safely and wellbeing of our staff and sustain our critical operations.
