ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14
THE M6 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 40-39 SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAY & SLIP ROAD) [TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2020
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M6 Motorway, in the District of Eden, in the County of Cumbria, to enable resurfacing works and other general maintenance to be carried out in safety.
a) The Order will impose a 50 mph speed limit on the southbound carriageway of the M6 Motorway between J40 and J39, from a point 115 metres south of Edge Brow overbridge, to a point 265 metres south of Trainriggs Bridge.
b) The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M6 Motorway:
i. the southbound carriageway from the last point at which the J40 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the J39 entry slip road joins the carriageway;
ii. the southbound entry slip road at J40.
Restriction a) is expected to take place overnight between 20:00 and 06:00 starting on Monday 26 October 2020 and ending on Saturday 21 November 2020.
Prohibitions b) are expected to take place during a continuous period starting at 20:00 on Tuesday 17 November 2020 and ending at 06:00 on Wednesday 18 November 2020.
However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights, or during subsequent continuous periods, until completed.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance or traffic officer vehicles.
The restrictions and prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
