Temporary Closure of B3091 High Street, Shaftesbury
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles (apart from emergency services, deliveries and buses) will be prohibited from proceeding along B3091 High Street, Shaftesbury from the junction with Angel Lane to the junction with The Commons (in both directions) a distance of approximately 290 metres. The Notice is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise likelihood of danger to pedestrians and highway users. It will come in to operation on 19th September 2020 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the restrictions will be lifted once there is no longer a need for social distancing or if the local authority deem it no longer necessary. A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed section. This Notice will ensure social distancing measures can be maintained outside shops and allow businesses to open safely in Shaftesbury.
Part of the order also includes the provision and installation of disabled parking bays at the following locations: two bays outside 58 High Street on the Angel Lane side, two bays outside 21 Bell Street and two bays outside 6 The Commons. Parking restrictions, indicated by signs on site, will be imposed to prevent waiting or parking on the highway between 09:00 until 16:00.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
