M3 MOTORWAY JUNCTION 9 AND HOCKLEY LINK TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the M3 Motorway, A34 Trunk Road, Hockley Link and associated roads in the County of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order is:-
1) to authorise the phased overnight closure of;

a) the roundabout at M3 Junction 9 (A34/A272);

b) both carriageways of the A34 between the roundabout described in a) above and Three Maids Hill (A272);

c) both carriageways of the Kingsworthy Link (A33) between the B3047 and their merge with/diverge from the A34;

d) both carriageways of Easton Lane between the roundabout at M3 Junction 9 (A34/A272) and Tesco's roundabout;

e) both carriageways of the A272 (Spitfire Link) between the roundabout at M3 Junction 9 (A34/A272) and Spitfire Roundabout (A31);

f) both carriageways of Hockley Link (A3090) between its junction with the M3 Junction 11 (A3090) roundabout and its junction with the B3335;

g) all of the roads leading to and from both carriageways of the M3 at Junction 9 (A34/A272);

h) the roads leading to the southbound carriageway and from the northbound carriageway of the A34 at Three Maids Hill (A272);

i) the roads leading to and from the southbound carriageway of the A34 in and out of Easton Lane Works Unit; and

j) any side road at junction with any of the carriageways described in b) - f) above; and

2) to authorise the 24-hour closure of all of the lay-bys adjacent to the carriageways described in 1) b) above.

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing, road marking, stud renewal and all associated works. It is expected that the work will last for approximately 2 weeks starting on or after Thursday 27th August 2020. The overnight closures will take place between 22:00 and 06:00 (maximum period). The Order will come into force on 25 August 2020 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete. Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted using other junctions on the M3 as appropriate, otherwise as follows. HGV traffic will be strategically diverted using the M3, A303 and A34 as required, other traffic will use the A33, A34, A3090, B3040, B3041, B3047,
B3049, B3330, B3331, B3420, Harestock
Road, Easton Lane, and Union Street. The diversion in operation will vary according to the closure in force.
The temporary closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
