M1 MOTORWAY, NEAR HENDON TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the M1 Motorway in the London Borough of Barnet, under Section 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because of the likelihood of danger to the public.
This forms an extension of Temporary Notice HE/2020/E663 (which it thereby replaces) as permitted by The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Procedure Regulations 1992, Regulation 7.
The effect of the Order is to impose a 24-hour 50mph speed restriction on:-
a) the southbound exit link road from the M1, between points 319 metres and 972 metres south of Fiveways foot overbridge; and
b) the northbound entry link road to the M1, between points 278 metres and 1200 metres north of Greenlands Lane foot overbridge; at Junction 2 (A1).
This measure is in the interests of road safety. The Order will come into force on 24 August 2020 and will remain in force as a temporary order for a maximum of eighteen months or until such time as it is replaced by a permanent Statutory Instrument, whichever is sooner. The temporary speed restriction will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when it is in operation during the danger period.
