Proposed Expansion of Sandgate School
Notice is hereby given in accordance with section 19(3) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that the governors intend to expand Sandgate School by raising capacity to 120 from its current level of 80. The school operates a split site with primary aged children based at the Sandylands Road, Kendal LA9 6AG and secondary aged children based at Queen Katherine’s School, Appleby Road, Kendal LA9 6PJ. The proposed implementation date of the change is 1st November 2020.
The number of children at the school in January 2020 was 94.

Explanatory notes:
All objections made (and not withdrawn in writing within the representation period) will be sent in full to Cumbria County Council’s Cabinet. The final decision on whether or not to enlarge Sandgate School will be made using guidance provided by the Department for Education, by the Cabinet of Cumbria County Council, within two months of the end of the representation period.
