Petition for the creation of GuiseleyTown Council
Publication of proposal for consultation
Leeds City Council commenced a community governance review of Guiseley on 24 October 2014.
The proposal is to establish a new Town Council for the Guiseley area.
The full Terms of Reference for the review can be viewed on the council's website at www.leeds.gov.uk/communitygovernancereview, at our offices at the Town Hall (address below) or by e-mail request to susanna.benton@leeds.gov.uk
A consultation period of 5 weeks now follows. Anyone may make representations to the council and those views will be put before Members of the Council at a meeting of the Electoral Working Group in December and General Purposes Committee in January 2015.
The Council will be guided by the relevant legislation and guidance, in particular the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 and Guidance on Community Governance Reviews (published jointly by the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Electoral Commission).
Final date for submission of representations is 28 November 2014.
The Council intends to publish final recommendations by the end of February 2015.
