Temporary Closure of Various Roads, Gillingham
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Various Roads, Gillingham as listed below:
[i] Le Neubourg Way from outside 6 Abbotts Way to junction with Newbury;
[ii] Wyke Street from the junction with Le Neubourg Way to a point 70 metres to the west;
[iii] Station Road from the junction with Le Neubourg Way to the junction with Buckingham Road;
[iv] Newbury from the junction with Harding’s Lane to junction with New Road. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation between 19:00 until 06:00 on 19 August 2020 and will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 2nd September 2020. The roads will be open outside of these times and also over the weekend. Even though the dates above coincide, only one road will be closed at any one time. This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.
Further to the above restrictions Station Road will be closed from the junction with High Street to the junction with Paris Court from 1 September 2020 until 11 September 2020 and will be closed 24 hours a day. This will faciliate Footway realignment and road wideing.
Locally signed diversion routes will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.
