BRIGHTON & HOVE CITY COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 BRIGHTON & HOVE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING AND VARIOUS RESTRICTIONS) (NEW ROAD) EXPERIMENTAL ORDER 2020 (TRO-15-2020)
NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council (“the Council”) made the above named experimental Order on the 22 July 2020 under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which comes into force on 3 August 2020 for a period not exceeding eighteen months.
The effect of the Order will be as follows:
• Introduce a prohibition of driving on New Road – Monday to Sunday 5pm to 11pm.
• Update current prohibition of vehicles to a no entry except pedal cycles at North Street & New Road junction.
• Amend the hours of operation of the disabled parking provision in New Road so the road is clear of parked vehicles from 5pm to 11pm.

The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the experimental Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Any person wishing to object to such indefinite continuation of the provisions may within a period of six months from 3 August 2020, (or if this Order is varied by another Order or modified pursuant to section 10(2) of the Act, six months from the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification came into force) object in writing stating the grounds on which that objection is being made.

or online (see details above) you can also comment direct via www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/ tro-proposals no later than 3 February 2021. In all cases the reference TRO-15-2020 should be quoted. Any person who wishes to question the validity of the experimental Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act, or that any requirements of the Act or of any instrument made under it have not been complied with may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made, apply to the High Court for that purpose.
