THE A5 AND THE A5148 TRUNK ROADS (MUCKLEY CORNER TO WEEFORD, STAFFORDSHIRE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2020
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 9346363) has made an Order on the A5 and A5148 Trunk Roads between Muckley Corner and Weeford, in the County of Staffordshire, to allow resurfacing, signage, road markings and footway works to be carried out.
The effect of the Order,will be to, at different times -
(1) close the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the A5 between the roundabout junction with the A461 Walsall Road and Ha Lane, at Muck ey Corner (known as Muckley Corner Roundabout), and the roundabout junction with the slip roads leading to and from the A38 London Road, the slip roads leading to and from the M6 Toll and Roman Road, at Weeford (known as the Weefordlnterchange);
(2) close the southbound carriageway of the A5148 between the roundabout junction of the A38 London Road and slips leading to and from the A5148, near Lichfield (known as Swinfen Roundabout) and the dumbbell roundabout junction of the A5, the A5148 and A5127 Birmingham Road (known as Wall Island); near Wall;
(3) close the entry slip road leading to the southbound carriageway of the A5148 from Swinfen Roundabout;
(4) close the entry slip road leading to the northbound carriageway of the A5148 from
Wall Island;
(5) close any gap in the central reservation of the lengths of the A5 and A5148 described in (1) and (2) above;
(6) close any layby situated adjacent to the lengths of the A5 and A5148 described in (1) and (2) above; and
(7) prohibit vehicles from entering or leaving the lengths of the A5 and A5148 described in (1) and (2) above at the junction with any side road.
The work will be carried out in phases and is expected to start on Monday 6July 2020 and continue for approximately 3weeks. The closures areexpected to be carried out overnight between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours. The layby closures will be in operation from 20:00 hours on Sunday 5July 2020 for 24 hours per day for the duration of the works. The Order will come into force on 29 June 2020. Any vehicle being used for police, fireand rescue authority or ambulance purposes and any vehicle being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the closures and prohibition. Access to properties will be maintained at all times. Diversion routes via the A461, the A51, the A5192, Friary Road, Cappers Lane, the A38,
the A5148, the A452, the A454, Belwell Lane,
