THE M25, M20 AND M26 MOTORWAYS,
A282 AND A20 TRUNK ROADS
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England
Company Limited has made an Order on the
M25, M20 and M26 Motorways, and the A282
and A20 Trunk Roads in the County of Kent
and the London Borough of Bromley, under
Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation
Act 1984 because works are proposed to be
executed on the road.
The effect of the Order is to authorise the
phased overnight closure of:-
a) both carriageways of the M25 between
Junction 2 (A2) and Junction 3 (M20
Junction 1/A20);
b) the London-bound carriageway of the M20
between Junction 3 (M26) and Junction 1
(M25 Junction 3);
c) the westbound carriageway of the M26
between M20 Junction 3 and Junction 2A
(A20);
d) the coast-bound carriageway of the A20
between Crittalls Corner (A223/A224) and
Swanley Interchange (M25 Junction 3/M20);
e) the road connecting to the clockwise
carriageway of the A282 from the southbound
distributor road (connecting the roundabout
at M25 Junction 30 (A13) to the roundabout
at M25 Junction 31 (A1306));
f) the road leading to the anti-clockwise
carriageway of the A282, and the road
connecting to this slip road from the
westbound link road (connecting the
roundabouts) at Littlebrook Interchange
(M25 Junction 1A) (A206/B2228);
g) the road leading from the clockwise
carriageway of the A282 at Littlebrook
Interchange (M25 Junction 1A) (A206/B2228);
h) the westbound carriageway of the road
connecting the roundabouts at Littlebrook
Interchange (M25 Junction 1A) (A206/B2228);
i) the roads leading to the clockwise
carriageway of the M25 from the
roundabout and connecting from the road
leading from the London-bound carriageway
of the A2 at Junction 2 (A2/A282);
j) the road leading from the anti-clockwise
carriageway of the M25 and the road
connecting from it to the road leading to
the London-bound carriageway of the A2
at Junction 2 (A2/A282);
k) all the slip and link roads at M25 Junction 3
(M20 Junction 1/A20) with the exception of:-
i) the roads leading to the clockwise
carriageway and from the anti-clockwise
carriageway of the M25; and
ii) the road leading to the London-bound
carriageway of the A20;
l) the road leading to the coast-bound
carriageway of the A20 at Crittall’s Corner
Interchange (A223/A224);
m) the road leading to the London-bound
carriageway of the M20 at Junction 2 (A20);
and
n) the road leading from the westbound
carriageway of the M26 at Junction 2A (A20).
These measures are in the interests of road
safety while contractors undertake bridge joint
replacements and all associated works.
The work is part of a package on the southeastern
M25 and A282, and the M20 and
A20, expected to take place intermittently for
approximately 9 months starting on or after
Monday 6th July 2020.
The works are scheduled to take place as
follows, subject to amendment:
M25 Junctions 2-3 6th -18th July;
A20 17th – 27th October;
A282 Junction 1 4th – 12th November
M20 3rd – 12th December
Details will be available on advance road warning
signs and on the Highways England website.
The overnight closures will take place between
(maximum periods):
Monday – Thursday 2200 – 0530
Friday 2300 – 0600
Saturday 2200 – 0600
Sunday 2230 – 0530
The Order will come into force on 4 July 2020
and have a maximum duration of eighteen
months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted
using other junctions on the M25, and by using
the A2, A20, A206, A223, A226, A2026, B2173
and B2228. The diversion in operation will vary
according to the closure in force.
The temporary closures and diversion routes
will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when
they are in operation during the works period.
