PUBLIC CONSULTATION
PROPOSED REDEVELOPMENT OF THE TINBERGEN BUILDING
We would like to invite you to view proposals online for the redevelopment of the
Tinbergen Building into a world-leading centre for Life and Mind Sciences.
UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD
Due to the current situation the University are holding a virtual consultation for the proposals providing the opportunity to view proposals, raise questions to the Design Team and submit feedback.
The existing Tinbergen building is located on the corner of St Cross Road and South Parks Road. Oxford City Council approved the University's planning application for its demolition along with various enabling works in September 2019 to allow redevelopment of the site.
The new building will be home to the Department of Experimental Psychology and a new Department of
Biology, combining the existing departments of Plant Sciences and Zoology.
Whilst it will occupy the same site as the existing Tinbergen building, it will enhance this
gateway to Oxford's Science Area.
The design team are working on the detailed design of the new Life and Mind building ahead of submitting a planning application. The University wishes to seek the views of staff, students, neighbours and local organisations/stakeholders on the proposals. All feedback received will be taken into account in progressing the scheme.
The proposals are available to view on the University of Oxford Building our Futures website.
The website will be live from 4 June where there will be a PDF document setting out the proposals for
the site.
We welcome feedback on the proposals, an online feedback form is available on the website. We ask that all feedback is submitted by 20 June 2020.
