Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, has made the Wigan Borough Council (Leigh Town Centre) (Prohibition of Driving) (Experimental) Order 2020 which will come into operation on 12th June 2020. The effect of the Order is to prohibit driving at all times, for an experimental period of 18 months, on:
? Bradshawgate, Leigh (both sides) from its junction with Back Market Street to its junction with Vernon Street

? Union Street, Leigh (both sides) from its junction with John Street to its junction with Bradshawgate

? Silk Street, Leigh (both sides) from its junction with Gerrard Street to its junction with Bradshawgate

? Bold Street, Leigh (both sides) from its junction with Gerrard Street to its junction with Bradshawgate

There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to enter, proceed or wait -For the purpose of building and similar operations; road works and works by Statutory undertakers; for local authority, Water Companies and Post Office purposes; if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances, (liveried vehicles) or in connection with a funeral; the delivery or collection of goods and for loading or unloading between the hours of midnight and 9am and 5pm and midnight.
NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN Wigan Borough Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Any person may within the period of six months from the coming into force of this Order object to the making of the Order for the purposes of such indefinite continuation. Any such objections to the Order must be made in writing and specify the grounds thereof and must be made to the Assistant Director -Legal, Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan quoting reference RD/LS/SEC/C108.103 not later than 12th December 2020. Various Roads, Leigh - Experimental Bus Lanes Notice of Making
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, has made the Wigan Borough Council (Various Roads, Leigh) (Bus Lanes) (Experimental) Order 2020 which will come into operation on 12th June 2020.
The effect of the Order will be to revoke bus lanes, for an experimental period of 18 months, on:
? Leigh Road, Leigh (east side) in its entirety

? Market Street, Leigh (both sides) in its entirety

? Market Street, Leigh (northbound) in its entirety

? Leigh Road, Leigh (northbound) in its entirety

? Leigh Road, Leigh (southbound) in its entirety

? Market Street, Leigh (southbound) in its entirety

The effect of the Order will be to introduce 24 hour, Monday-Sunday bus lanes, for an experimental period of 18 months, on:
? Leigh Road, Leigh (southbound) from a point 35 metres south west of its junction with Hendon Street to a point 4 metres north of its junction with Chatham Street

? Leigh Road, Leigh (southbound) from a point 52 metres south of its junction with Ratcliffe Street to a point 4 metres north of its junction with Caroline Street

? Market Street, Leigh (southbound) from a point 33 metres south of its junction with Lord Street to a point 17 metres north of its junction with Bradshawgate

? Market Place, Leigh (northbound) from a point 41 metres north of its junction with Lord Street to a point 3 metres north of its junction with Church Street

There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to be in the bus lane: For the purpose of building and similar operations; removal of obstruction to traffic; road works and works by Statutory undertakers; for local authority, Water Companies and Post Office purposes; if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances, (liveried vehicles) the avoidance of an accident, help in consequence of an accident, emergency or taking action for public safety, compliance with necessary requirement; vehicular access to premises adjacent to bus lane; cycle and hackney carriages.
NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN Wigan Borough Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely.
