Dun Law Windfarm Life Extension Project Information Update
Project Information Update
ScottishPower Renewables has been operating Dun Law Windfarm just south of Edinburgh, near Oxton in Scottish Borders, for 20 years which will come to the end of its consented operational life in 2022. The site compromises 26 Vestas turbines which are capable of generating up to 17 megawatts of clean green energy.
Permission for an extension to Dun Law Windfarm was granted in 2007 and this was constructed in 2009. The extension created an additional 30 megawatts of capacity, allowing the windfarm to generate up to 47 megawatts.
ScottishPower Renewables now propose to extend the life of Dun Law Windfarm until 2034 by submitting an application under Section 42 of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Art 1997 to Scottish Borders Council, which aligns with the lifetime of the adjacent Dun Law Extension. Whilst this application will seek to change the planning condition which currently limits the operational life of Dun Law Windfarm to 31 st July 2022, there will be no physical changes made to Dun Law Windfarm.
Following the submission of the Section 42 application, consultation will be undertaken by Scottish Borders Council. Scottish Borders Council will advertise the receipt of the application in a local newspaper, and provide details of how the application documents can be viewed and how representations can be made.
