THE A590 TRUNK ROAD (NEWBY BRIDGE) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2020
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that
Highways England Company Limited
(Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the A590 Trunk Road in the District of South Lakeland in the County of Cumbria to enable the renewal of road markings and road studs, joint sealing works, and other general maintenance; to be carried out in safety.
a) The Order will impose speed limits on the following sections of the A590 Trunk Road:
i. a 40 mph speed limit, on the eastbound carriageway, from a point 538 metres west of the Back Lane Junction, to a point 262 metres east of the Back Lane Junction;
ii. a 10 mph speed limit, on the eastbound carriageway, from a point 262 metres east of the Back Lane Junction, to a point 550 metres west of the B5271 Junction;
iii. a 40 mph speed limit, on the westbound carriageway, from a point 302 metres east of the B5271 Junction, to a point 498 metres west of the B5271 Junction;
iv. a 10 mph speed limit, on the westbound carriageway, from a point 498 metres west of the B5271 Junction, to a point 312 metres east of the Back Lane Junction. The 10 mph speed limit will apply for safety reasons through the works area when traffic wi II be escorted by a highway maintenance vehicle.
b) The Order will ban all traffic from the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the A590 Trunk Road, from the Newby Bridge Roundabout, to a point 329 metres east of the Back Lane Junction.
c) The Order will ban all traffic from the following laybys adjacent to the A590 Trunk Road:
i. the eastbound layby located 510 metres west of the Cartmel Lane Bridge;
ii. the westbound layby located 210 metres west of the Cartmel Lane Bridge.
d) The Order will ban all traffic from entering or leaving the A590 Trunk Road from:
i. the eastbound unclassified junction for Ayside/High Newton;
ii. the eastbound and westbound junctions at Cartmel Lane;
iii. the westbound Oak Bank Lane Junction.
The restrictions and prohibitions are expected to be in place overnight between 20:00 and 05:00, starting on Tuesday 23 June 2020 and ending on Thursday 9 July 2020. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed.
Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the A590 Trunk Road and local roads will be well signed.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services or works vehicles. The restrictions and prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
