Closed church building and churchyard of Holy Trinity Goodramgate, York Diocese of York Notice is hereby given that the Churches Conservation Trust intends to carry out building works within the churchyard to repair the vestry walls and to provide new toilet facilities. 1.There are burials in the churchyard. The Secretary of State for the Ministry of Justice has made an Order confirming that human remains will not be disturbed except for within some areas where exhumation may be required as part of these works. All other human remains will remain undisturbed. No tombstones, monuments or memorials will be removed. 2.The exhumations will be dealt with as directed by the Ministry of Justice and the Archbishop of York which require that the removal of the human remains will be carried out with due care and attention to decency. 3.Any human remains which are removed will be reinterred in the area of consecrated ground at Fulford Cemetery, York, in accordance with the Directions of the Archbishop of York. 4.A plan showing the churchyard and the details of the affected areas along with a copy of the full directions will be available for inspection at Holy Trinity Church, Goodramgate, York, Sunday and Monday 12pm -3pm and Tuesday to Saturday 10am-3pm until 9th January 2015. Please note that the church is closed on 24th 25th and 26th December and 1st January. 5.Any personal representative or relative of any persons buried within the affected areas has the right to give notice to the Churches Conservation Trust at the address below by 9th January 2015 that they themselves wish to remove and reinter any such remains or cremate them in any crematorium. Any such removal and/or disposal must be completed within two months from the date of such notice, and the Churches Conservation Trust will meet any reasonable costs relating to this. 6.If the Churches Conservation Trust does not receive any such notices or if after any such notice is given, the person then fails to remove the human remains in question within two months from the date of such notice, the Churches Conservation Trust will arrange for the work to be done in accordance with the directions described above.
