Notice of Temporary Traffic Order
Oxford, George Street area
Prohibition of Vehicles
Date of Order: 25 May 2020
Coming into force: 1 June 2020
This Order is being introduced because of carriageway
maintenance works which are anticipated to be completed 6
June 2020. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any
vehicle proceeding or waiting in:
1. George Street, and at its junction with Cornmarket Street and
Magdalen Street East from 1 to 6 June;
2. Gloucester Green Bus Station – to be closed Monday 1 June;
3. Magdalen Street East junction with /Broad Street/Magdalen
Street West to be closed Saturday 6 June.
Parking and loading will not be permitted (subject to controls).
The relevant parts of the Oxfordshire County Council (Central
Area, Oxford) (Controlled Parking Zone) Order 2011 (as
amended), and the Oxfordshire County Council (City of Oxford)
(Central Area)(Traffic Management) (Consolidation) Order 2003
(as amended) shall be temporarily suspended for the duration
of the Works.
Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the
measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency
services and for the works and for access to premises which
are only accessible from the closed section of road. The
alternative route for traffic is via Worcester Street, Beaumont
Street. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of
18 months or until the works have been completed whichever
