THE M66 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 1-2 NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAYS & SLIP ROADS) [TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2020
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M66 Motorway, In the Boroughs of Bury and Rossendale, In the Counties of Greater Manchester and Lancashire to enable resurfacing works and other general maintenance; to be carried out in safety. The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M66 Motorway:
i) the southbound carriageway, from its start point (the end point of the A56 southbound carriageway), to the first point at which the M66 J2 southbound entry slip road joins the carriageway;

ii) the northbound carriageway, from the last point at which the M66 J2 northbound exit slip road leaves the carriageway,

to its end point (the point at which the M66 northbound carriageway becomes the A56 carriageway);
iii) the southbound entry slip road at J1;

iv) the northbound exit slip road at J1;

v) the southbound exit slip road at J2;

vi) the northbound entry slip road at J2. The works are expected to take place overnight between 21:00 and 05:00 (07:00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Thursday 21 May 2020 and ending on Thursday 2 July 2020. However, works may start and continue between

the same times on subsequent nights until completed.
Diversions via alternative junctions of the M66 Motorway, the A56 Trunk Road, and local roads will be well signed. The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works or traffic officer vehicles, and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
