THE A49 TRUNK ROAD (MICHAELCHURCH TO HOPE UNDER DINMORE) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2020
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an Order on the A49 Trunk Road, between Michaelchurch and Hope under Dinmore, in the County of Herefordshire, to allow carriageway resurfacing and associated works to be carried out.
The effect of the Order will be to, at different times, -
(1) impose a 40 miles per hour speed restriction on the A49 between the centrepoint of its roundabout junction with the B4399 at Grafton, and the centreline of its junction with Tump Lane at Much Birch;
(2) impose a 40 miles per hour speed restriction on the A49 between the centrepoint of its roundabout junction with the B4399 at Grafton, and its roundabout junction with the A465 at Hereford;
(3) impose a 40 miles per hour speed restriction on the northbound carriageway of the A49 from the centreline of its junction with the A4137, to a point
1000 metres northwest of the centreline of that junction;
(4) close the A49 between its junction with the A4137, east of Michaelchurch, and its roundabout junction with the A465 at Hereford;
(5) close the A49 between its roundabout junction with the A4103 Roman Road at Holmer, and its junction with the A417 at Hope under Dinmore;
(6) close any layby adjacent to the lengths of the A49 described in (3) and (4) above; and
(7) prohibit vehicles from entering or leaving the lengths of the A49 described in (3) and (4) above at its junction with any side road.
The work is expected to start on Sunday 5 April 2020 and continue for approximately four weeks. The carriageway closures and prohibition will be in operation overnight, on weekdays only, between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours. The layby closures and the 40 miles per hour speed restrictions will be in
force from 20:00 hours on Sunday 5 April 2020
and will continue for 24 hours per day for the duration of the works. The Order will come into
force on 30 March 2020.
Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions, closures and prohibition. Vehicles being used for special forces purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions, and vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the closures and prohibition. Access to properties will be maintained at all times. Diversion routes via the A417, A438, Leadon Way, M50 Junction 2, A449, A40 and A4103 will be signed.
