THE A419 TRUNK ROAD (WHITE HART TO RAT TRAP) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2020
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (a) has made an Order on the A419 trunk road in the Borough of Swindon to allow junction improvements and associated maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to take place, commencing on or after 3 April 2020 and be completed by 3 March 2021. The effect of the Order will be:
(a) the overnight closure (20.00 to 06.00) of:
(i) the A419 northbound from White Hart Roundabout to Rat Trap Junction;
(ii) the northbound entry and the southbound entry and exit slip roads at White Hart Roundabout;
(b) to impose a mandatory 50 miles per hour speed limit on the A419 northbound from 400 metres north of Warnborough Road Overbridge to 600 metres south of Highworth Road Underbridge;
(c) to restrict vehicles over 2 metres wide to the left hand lane of the A419 northbound from 350 metres south of Stratton Rail Bridgeto 750 metres north of Stratton Rail Bridge.
During the closure traffic will be diverted via theA4312, B4006, B4143 and A4311. The closure (which will not apply to emergency service, traffic officer or works vehicles), speed limit and width restrictions will be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works period and will only apply when traffic management measures are in place. The Order will come into force on 1 April 2020 and have a maximum duration of 18 months.
