These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing, road-marking, stud replacement, barrier replacement, and all associated work. Specific closures will be advised in advance on the road and Highways England's website. The overnight closures will take place between 21:00 and 06:00 during the week and 21:00 and 07:00 at weekends (maximum periods). The Order will come into force on 30 March 2020 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted using other junctions on the M3, and by using
the A30, A31, A34, A272, A287, and A303.
The diversion in operation will vary according to the closure in force.
Access for staff and hotel guests at Winchester Services will be maintained under gated control and escort.
The temporary closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
