ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14
THE A1(M) MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 61) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A1(M) Motorway, in County Durham, to enable resurfacing and white lining works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start at 6am on Tuesday 14 April for 5 weeks, or until completed. The effect of the Order will be, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to impose a temporary 40mph speed restriction on the:
(i) A1(M) northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads at Junction 61 (Bowburn); and

(ii) Bowburn Interchange Roundabout.

It will be necessary to close, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, the above mentioned (i) and (ii). During the closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times. Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes).
