A282 TRUNK ROAD (JUNCTIONS 2-30 (DARTFORD CROSSING)) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A282 Trunk Road in the County of Kent, and Unitary Authority of Thurrock, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order would be to authorise the phased overnight closure of:
a) (sections of) the anti-clockwise carriageway of the A282 between M25 Junction 2 (A2) and Junction 30 (A13), including both bores of the Dartford Tunnel;
b) the road connecting to the anti-clockwise carriageway of the A282 from the London-bound carriageway of the A2 Trunk Road at Darenth Interchange (M25 Junction 2) (A282/A2);
c) the road leading to the anti-clockwise carriageway of the A282 at Darenth Interchange (M25 Junction 2) (A282/A2);
d) the southbound distributor road connecting the roundabout at Princes Road Interchange (M25 Junction 1b) (A225/A296) to the roundabout at Darenth Interchange (M25 Junction 2) (A282/A2) and the road leading from the clockwise carriageway of the A282 to it;
e) the road leading from the clockwise carriageway of the A282 at Princes Road Interchange (M25 Junction 1b) (A225/A296);
f) all of the roads leading to and from both carriageways of the A282 at Littlebrook Interchange (M25/A282 Junction 1a) (A206/B2228);
g) the road connecting to the anti-clockwise entry slip road from the westbound link road (connecting the roundabouts) at Littlebrook Interchange (M25 Junction 1a) (A206/B2228); and
h) the road leading from the anti-clockwise carriageway. and the road leading to the clockwise carriageway, of the A282 at Purfleet Interchange (M25 Junction 31)(A1306).
These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake barrier repairs, bridge joint replacement, resurfacing, road marking, stud and loop replacement, electrical, signage, and all associated work and inspections.
It is expected that the work would last for approximately 3 weeks starting on or after
Monday 13th April 2020. The overnight closures would take place between 20:00 and 08:00 hours (maximum period).
The Order would come into force on 11 April 2020 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.
Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted as follows:
1) West Tunnel closure: (scheduled, subject to change, 20th -25th April) all traffic would use the East Tunnel;
2) East Tunnel closure: (scheduled, subject to change, 13th -18th April) traffic would use the West Tunnel, with the exception of over-height vehicles which would be diverted clockwise around the M25;
3) A282 closure between Junction 1b and 31, including the roads described in b) and c) above: (scheduled, subject to change, 24th -28th April) traffic would be diverted using the A2, A102, and A13 (other than over-height vehicles which would be diverted as per 2)); and
4) for all other slip closures, the diversion would be to continue to the next possible junction and return.
The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
