A31 TRUNK ROAD - CANFORD - PALMERSFORD, RINGWOOD - CADNAM TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A31 Trunk Road in the County of Dorset, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to authorise:-
1) the overnight closure of:-
a) the eastbound carriageway of the A31 between Salisbury Road Junction (A338/B3347) and Cadnam Interchange (M27 Junction 1);
b) the eastbound carriageway of the A31 between Canford Bottom Roundabout (B3073) (including the drive-through) and West Moors Junction (B3072);
c) the westbound carriageway of the A31 between Palmersford Roundabout (A347) and Canford Bottom Roundabout (B3073) (including the drive-through);
d) the road leading to the eastbound carriageway of the A31 at Salisbury Road Junction (A338);
e) the roads leading to and from the eastbound carriageway of the A31 at Poulner Hill Junction;
f) the roads leading to and from the eastbound carriageway of the A31 at Picket Post;
g) the road leading from the eastbound carriageway of the A31 at Cadnam Interchange (M27 Junction1/B3079);
h) the road leading to the eastbound carriageway of the A31 at Canford Bottom Roundabout (B3073);
i) the road leading from the westbound carriageway of the A31 at Canford Bottom Roundabout (B3073);
j) the road leading from the eastbound carriageway of the A31 at West Moors Junction (B3072); and k) the roads leading to and from the westbound carriageway of the A31 at West Moors Junction (B3072);
l) the gap in the central reservation approximately 215 metres west of the Rufus Stone turn from the eastbound carriageway of the A31;
m) all of the side roads at junction with the carriageways described in a) -c) above; and
n) any bus stops in or adjacent to the carriageways described in a) - c) above; and
2) the 24-hour closure of all of the lay-bys adjacent to the carriageways described in 1) a) - c) above.
These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing, road-marking, stud replacement, bridge joint works and all associated works.
It is expected that the work would occur in two phases. The works concerning the carriageway described in 1) a) above and its associated slips, gap, side roads, and lay-bys is scheduled to last for approximately 10 days starting on or after Wednesday 1st April 2020. The works concerning the carriageways described in 1) b) and c) above and their associated slips, side roads, bus stops and lay-bys is scheduled to last for approximately 4 months The overnight closures would take place between 20:00 and 06:00 (maximum period).
The Order would come into force on 30 March 2020 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when all works are complete. Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using the M27, A36, A338, A347, Wimborne Road East and Wimborne Road West. Access to properties fronting any of the closed carriageways, and off Forest Links Road accessible only via Ameysford Roundabout would be maintained under escort. The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
