BRIGHTON AND HOVE CITY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER - VALLEY GARDENS - RESURFACING
1. NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council have on the 2nd March 2020 made an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which has the following effect:-
The following will be implemented in separate phases and will only be in force as and when signed:
(a) The Temporary Closure of Marlborough Place and Old Steine from the with junction with Edward Street to the junction with North Road. To maintain access it is also necessary to Rescind the One-way Restriction on Church Street from the junction with Marlborough place to the junction with Regent Street.
(b) The Temporary Closure of; Marlborough Place from the junction with Church Street to the junction with Grand Parade, and Gloucester Place from the junction with North Road to approximately 10 metres north of the junction with Gloucester Street, and North Road from Gloucester Place to a point approximately 30 metres westward.
To maintain access it is also necessary to Rescind the One-way Restriction on Gloucester Street for its entire length.
(c) The Temporary Closure of; St Georges Place and York Place from the junction with Gloucester Street to the junction with St Peters place, and Trafalgar Street at its junction with York Place. To maintain access it is also necessary to Rescind the One-way Restriction on Trafalgar Street from its junction with York Place to its junction with Pelham Street.
(d) The Temporary Closure of; York Place and London Road, from property no.10 York Place to the junction with Queens Place, and St Peters Place from the junction with York Place to the junction with Ditchling Road. To maintain access it is also necessary to Rescind the Oxford Street Bus Gate.
(e) The Temporary Closure of; St Peters Place from the junction with London Road to the junction with Waterloo Place, and London Road from the junction with Queens Place to the junction with St Peters Place, and Ditchling Road at its junction with St Peters Place. To maintain access it is also necessary to Rescind; the one-way restriction on Oxford Place and Queens Place for their entire lengths, and the Oxford Street Bus Gate.
(f) The Temporary Closure of Waterloo Place and Richmond Place from the junction with Phoenix Place to the junction with Richmond Parade, and Phoenix Place at its junction with Waterloo Place.
To maintain access it is also necessary to Rescind; the Oxford Street Bus Gate, and the existing one-way orders in Phoenix Place and Albion Street for their entire lengths, and The Brighton & Hove (Valley Gardens Scheme - A23 Grand Parade, Marlborough Place, Gloucester Place, St Georges Place and York Place, Brighton) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2019.
(g) The Temporary Closure of; Grand Parade from the junction with Richmond Parade to the northern junction with Marlborough Place, and Richmond Parade and Morley Street at their junctions with Grand Parade. To maintain access it is also necessary to Rescind; the temporary one-way order on Circus Street, and The Brighton & Hove (Valley Gardens Scheme - A23 Grand Parade, Marlborough Place, Gloucester Place, St Georges Place and York Place, Brighton) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2019.
(h) The Temporary Closure of Grand Parade from property no.20 to the Sallis Benney Theatre, and Marlborough Place from the junction with North Road eastward to the junction with Grand Parade. To maintain access it is also necessary to rescind the temporary one-way order on Circus Street, and The Brighton & Hove (Valley Gardens Scheme - A23 Grand Parade, Marlborough Place, Gloucester Place, St Georges Place and York Place, Brighton) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2019.
2. The Order is necessary to allow Resurfacing for the Valley Gardens Redevelopment Scheme
3. Pedestrian access will be maintained, and diversion routes will be as directed.
4. This Order comes into force on 2 March 2020 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are
completed. Works are anticipated to be completed on 31 March 2020.
