Temporary Closure of Poundbury Road, Dorchester-Phase 2
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along POUNDBURY ROAD, DORCHESTER between its junction with Normandy Way and its junction with Railway Triangle Park Homes, a distance of approximately 100 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 29 January 2020 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 11 February 2020.
This Order will enable Wessex Water, safe access to install new sewer along Poundbury Road. These works are required to install new sewer connection to existing public sewer network for Poundbury Phase 4.
An alternative route will be signed using: Bridport Road - The Grove - B3147- A37 -Bradford Peverell - Poundbury Road.

Dorset Council proposes to make an Amendment Order to 'The County of Dorset (Various Roads in the District of West Dorset) (Consolidation of Orders made for the Regulation of Traffic) Order 2014' under relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ('the Act') and under Part 6 of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with statutory requirement and in compliance with The Local Authorities' Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996. The effect of the Order will beto prohibit waiting at anytime on specified lengths of Mellstock Avenue, South Walks Road and Weatherbury Way, Dorchester. Relevant exemptions will apply where appropriate and as necessary in accordance with the provisions of the Order.
Full details of this proposal are contained in the Draft Order which, together with a plan showing the lengths of roads affected and a statement of the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday during normal office hours at:-Main Reception, Dorset Council, County Hall, Colliton Park,
