The effect of the Order would be:-
1) to authorise the phased overnight closure of;

a) both carriageways of the A27 between Holmbush Interchange (A270) and Hangleton Interchange (A293);

b) the road leading from the eastbound carriageway of the A27 at Hangleton Interchange (A293);

2) to authorise the 24-hour closure of all of the lay-bys adjacent to the carriageways described in 1) a) above.

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake CCTV replacement in Southwick Tunnel and associated works, signage renewal, structure surveys, and all associated work. It is expected that the work would last for approximately 6 weeks starting on or after Monday 10th February 2020. The overnight closures would take place between 20:00 and 06:00 (maximum period). The Order would come into force on 8 February 2020 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the road closures would be diverted using other junctions on the A27, and by using the A270, A293, and the A2038. The diversion in operation would vary according to the closure in force.
The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
