Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the M3 Motorway in the County of Hampshire and the Unitary Authority of Southampton, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed in the vicinity of the road. The effect of the Order is:-
1) to authorise the overnight closure of:-
i) the road leading from the coast-bound carriageway of the M3 to Chilworth Roundabout (A27/A33) and
ii) the road connecting from the link road connecting the coast-bound carriageway of the M3 to the westbound carriageway of the M27 motorway to the road described in i) above; at Junction 14 (M27 Junction 4) (Chilworth Interchange); and

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors working on behalf of Southampton undertake resurfacing and roundabout improvement work on and in the vicinity of Chilworth Roundabout.
It is expected that the work will last for approximately 5 days starting on or after Monday 27th January 2020. The overnight closures will take place between 22:00 and 06:00 (maximum period). The Order will come into force on 25 January 2020 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete. Traffic affected by the closure in 1) i) above will be diverted eastbound to M27 Junction 5 (A335) and follow local signing. Traffic affected by the closure in 1) ii) above will be diverted westbound to M27 Junction 3 (M271), southbound on the M271 to Junction 1 (Brownhill Way), and follow local signing.
The temporary closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
