THE M60 AND M61 MOTORWAYS [CARRIAGEWAYS, SLIP & LINK ROADS) [TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2020
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M60 and M61 Motorways, in the Boroughs of Bolton and Bury, and in the City of Salford, in the County of Greater Manchester, to enable lighting survey works, and other general maintenance; to be carried out in safety.
The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M60 and M61 Motorways:
i. the M60 clockwise carriageway, from the last point at which the exit link road leading to the M61 leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the entry link road from the M61 joins the carriageway;
ii. the M60 anti-clockwise carriageway, from the last point at which the M61 link road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the entry link road from the M61 joins the carriageway;
Hi. the M61 north-westbound carriageway from J2, from the last point at which the slip road from the A580 joins the M61 J2 slip road, to the first point at which the M61 north-westbound J4 entry slip road joins the carriageway;
iv. the M60 clockwise entry slip road from theA580;
v. the M60 anti-clockwise exit slip road to theA580;
vi. the M61 westbound entry and eastbound exit slip roads to and from the A580;
vii. the M61 J2 eastbound exit slip road; viii.the M61 J2 westbound exit slip road;
ix. the M60 anti-clockwise link road to the M61, from the last point at which it leaves the M60 anti-clockwise carriageway, to the first point at which the M60 clockwise exit link road joins the carriageway;
x. the M61 link road to the M60 clockwise, from the last point at which the M61 leads onto the M61 link road to M60 the clockwise carriageway, to the first point at which the link road joins the M60 clockwise carriageway;
xi. the M61 link road to the M60 anticlockwise carriageway, from the last point at which the M61 leads onto the M61 link road to M60 anti-clockwise, to the first point at which the link road joins the M60 anti-clockwise carriageway;
xii. the M60 clockwise link to the M61, from the last point at which the it leaves the M60 clockwise carriageway, to the first point at which the M60 anti-clockwise exit link road joins the carriageway.
The works will be undertaken in 9 phases and the prohibitions are expected to be in force between 22:30 and 05:00 (07:00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Thursday 30 January 2020 and ending on Friday 28 February 2020. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights or continue until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M61 and M60 Motorways, the A580 and A666 Trunk Roads, and local roads; will be well signed. The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance, or traffic officer vehicles and will only apply during such times and to such extent as will from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
