Following a resolution made by Richmondshire District Council's Full Council on 10 December 2019 the premium charged on long term empty properties for Council Tax will be increased. The new charges effective from

01 April 2020 will be:



Properties that have been empty for more than

2 years but less than 5 years will be subject to a premium of 100% in addition to the normal annual charge



Properties that have been empty for more than 5 years will be subject to a premium of 200% in addition to the normal annual charge. For this purpose an empty property is defined as a property that is both unoccupied and substantially unfurnished. Sian Moore S151 Officer
