HIGHWAYS AGENCY AREA 4 A27 Adur Viaduct Slip Improvements (8166)
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT NOTICE OF DETERMINATION IN ACCORDANCE
WITH SECTION 105 B (1) OF THE HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 (AS AMENDED)

The Secretary of State for the Department for Transport gives notice that he has determined that the A27 Adur Viaduct Slip Improvements (8166) is a relevant project within the meaning of section 105A(1) of the Highways Act 1980 (as amended), and is not to be made subject to an Environmental Impact Assessment, in accordance with Part VA of the Highways Act 1980 implementing Directive 85/337/EEC as amended by Directive 97/11/EEC codified by DIRECTIVE 2011/92/EU.

The scheme entails the application of hatched lane separation markings on the A27 Adur viaduct slip roads in order to reduce the existing dual lane arrangement to single lane throughout. Following a safety study, the scheme was designed in order to reduce the number of side swipe collisions on these roads. The works are within the Highways Agency carrigeway in the South Downs National Park. Any comments regarding this notice should be sent to the Highways Agency at the address given below. Comments should be made as soon as possible and received by the Highways Agency no later than 6 weeks from the date of publication of this notice.
