THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (WESTBOUND CARRIAGEWAY AND THE M6 MOTORWAY [JUNCTION 40 ROUNDABOUT & SLIP ROAD) [TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2020 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the A66 Trunk Road and the M6 Motorway, in the District of Eden, in the County of Cumbria, to enable widening of an existing footway and general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety.
(a) The Order will impose speed limits on the following sections of the A66 Trunk Road and M6 Motorway:

i) a 30 mph speed limit on the A66 westbound dual carriageway, from a point 410 metres east of Skirsgill Railway Bridge, to a point 160 metres west of Skirsgill Railway Bridge;

ii) a 50 mph speed limit on the A66 westbound dual carriageway, from a point 160 metres west of Skirsgill Railway Bridge, to a point 965 metres west of Skirsgill Railway Bridge;

iii) a 50 mph speed limit on the M6 northbound exit slip road at Junction 40;

iv) a 50 mph speed limit on the M6 Junction 40 Roundabout;

v) a 50 mph speed limit on the A66 westbound dual carriageway, from the Skirsgill Depot Junction, to the M6 Junction 40 Roundabout.

(b) The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the A66 Trunk Road westbound side roads:

i) Skirsgill Business Estate Junction, located 205 metres east of Skirsgill Railway Bridge;

ii) Redhill's Junction, located 160 metres west of Skirsgill Railway Bridge.

(c) The Order will ban all pedestrians from the A66 westbound footway, from Junction 40, to the Redhill's Junction, situated 160 metres west of Skirsgill Railway Bridge.

Prohibition (b) i) is expected to take place between 20:00 and 06:00 during a period starting on Monday 6 January 2020 and ending on Tuesday 31 March 2020 (Saturday to Thursday only). Prohibition (b) i) is expected to take place between 07:00 and 19:00 during a period starting on Monday 6 January 2020 and ending on Tuesday 31 March 2020. (Saturday to Sunday only). Prohibition (b) i) is expected to take place between 20:00 and 06:00 during a period starting on Monday 6 January 2020 and ending on Tuesday 31 March 2020. (Saturday to Sunday only). Prohibition (b) ii) is expected to take place between 20:00 and 06:00 during a period starting on Monday 6 January 2020 and ending on Tuesday 31 March 2020 (Saturday to Thursday only). Restrictions (a) and Prohibition (c) are expected to take place over a continuous period starting at 20:00 on Monday 6 January 2020 and ending at 06:00 on Tuesday 31 March 2020. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights or days, or during subsequent continuous periods, until completed. The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance, or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
