M25 MOTORWAY&A2AND A282 TRUNK ROADS TEMPORARYTRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on theM25 Motorway and A2 and A282 TrunkRoads in the County of Kent, and the Unitary Authority of Thurrock, under Sections 14(1)(a) and 14(1)(c) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works areproposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be, in phases, to:-
1. authorise the overnight closureof-
(a) sections of both carriageways of the M25 and A282 between Junction 30 (A13) and Junction 2(A2);
(b) both carriageways of the A2 between Black Prince Interchange (A223) and Bean Interchange (B255);
(c) both carriageways of the A2 between Bean Interchange (B255) and M2 Junction 1;
(d) any slip road leading to and from the lengths of carriageway described in 1. (a) to (c) above; and
(e) thecirculatory system at Junction 2(A2); and
(f) thehardshoulder adjacent to the lengths of carriageway and slip roads in 1. (a) and (b) above;
2. impose an overnight 50 mph speed limit on the lengths of carriageway and slip roads described in 1. (a) to (d) above;
3. authorise the overnight use of the hard shoulder adjacent to the lengths of carriageway and slip roads described in 1. (a) to (d) above;
4. impose an overnight temporary 10 mph speed restriction while traffic is escorted through the works area by aconvoy system, on the lengths of carriageway and slip roads described in 1. (a) to (d) above; and
5. permit HGVs in the outside lane of the lengths of carriageway described in 1. (a) above, during inside-lane closures.
These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake Programmed Cyclical Maintenance(drainage, lighting, signage, inspections and surveys, maintenance and clearance of vegetation, litter picking and clearance, road sweeping, emergency crossing point maintenance, road markings and road studs, electrical loop works, barrier maintenance and clearance of injurious weeds). The duration of each closurewould vary depending on the natureofthe maintenance work being undertaken on each occasion. The programme of works would start on or after 1st January 2020.
The overnight closures on the M25, A2 between Black Prince Interchange and Bean Interchange and the A282 would be in operation between (maximum period):
Monday-Thursdays 22:00-05:30 Fridays 23:00-06:00
Saturdays 22:00-06:00
Sundays 22:30-05:30
The overnight closures on the A2 between Bean Interchange and M2 Junction 1would take place between 20:00 and 06:00 (maximum period). Planned maintenance work would be scheduled to avoid disruption during known peak periods, although essential maintenance may be necessary during these periods to prevent the need for emergency works. In such cases less disruptive options would be considered.
The Order would come into force on 1st January 2020 and shall remain in force until 23rdDecember 2020.
Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted via other junctions of the M25, A2 and A282, or by using the A13, A223, A225, A282, A289, A296, A2018, B259, B2174 and Brewer'sRoad. The diversion routes listed above arethe agreed routes, but these may change depending on local conditions. The diversion in operation would vary according to the closureinforce.

The temporary speed limit, hardshoulder running, convoy working, closures
and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they
areinoperation during the works period.
