NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT TO RETAIN THE OVERHEAD LINE AT KNAPTON GENERATING STATION, OCHRE FARM, KNAPTON CARR, EAST KNAPTON, MALTON IN THE AREA OF RYEDALE DISTRICT COUNCIL AND NORTH YORKSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
TAKE NOTICE that Northern Powergrid (Northeast) Limited (Company Number 02906593) C/O Third Energy UK Gas Limited of Knapton Generating Station, East Knapton, Malton North Yorkshire, Y017 8JF ("Third Energy") has submitted an application under Section 37 of the Electricity Act 1989 for the consent of the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to keep installed the overhead electricity line at Knapton generating station, East Knapton, North Yorkshire as shown in the plan below.

The application is required to support another application made under Section 36C of the Electricity Act 1989, to continue to operate an open cycle gas turbine generating station (Knapton Generating Station) previously consented on 25 March 1993 by the Department of Trade and Industry. The Overhead Line subject of this Section 37 Application was consented on the same date, to install above-ground the electric lines specified. The Section 37 application does not seek to construct new lines or new infrastructure or to dismantle the current infrastructure. Therefore, there is no requirement for any temporary construction works, other than may be required for any routine maintenance on the existing infrastructure. There is also no requirement for wayleaves other than those currently in place. The existing 132kV line to be maintained is approximately 600m long, supported by 3 No. 30m steel towers.

Written or emailed representations should be dated, clearly stating the name (in block capitals), full return email and postal address of those making representations. Representations must also identify the name of the overhead line (Ochre Farm, Knapton Carr, East Knapton, Malton) and any grounds for objection. Only representations sent by email to the address stipulated will receive acknowledgement.
Representations received by the Secretary of State will be handled in compliance with the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation. Any representations received will be shared with the relevant local planning authorities and the applicant with all personal information removed.
The application is not EIA Development under the terms of the 2017 EIA Regulations, so these Regulations do not apply. Nevertheless, should the Applicant provide any further environmental information to the Appropriate Authority, the Applicant will publish a notice stating how that information may be inspected and copies obtained, the address that any objections or representations must be sent to and the date (no earlier than 30 days after the last notice is published) by which any such objections or representations must be submitted. The further environmental information will be made available free of charge on the Application website and at the venue listed above.
