M3 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 9 TO 12) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the M3 Motorway in the County of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order will be to:-
1. impose a 24-hour 50 mph speed limit on both carriageways of the M3 between Junction 9 and Junction 12, and all slip roads leading to and from this length of carriageway;
2. authorise the use of the hard shoulder adjacent to the length of carriageway as described in 1. above; and
3. authorise the full weekend closure of the road leading from the northbound carriageway of the M3 at Junction 11 (A3090).
These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge works, drainage works, carriageway works, highways maintenance works and all associated works.
It is expected that the work would last for approximately 4 months starting on or after Friday 25th October 2019. The full weekend closures will take place between 21:00 on Fridays and 06:00 on Mondays (maximum period). It is expected that these closures will take place in January and February 2020 but this is subject to change. Advance warning signs will be displayed. The Order will come into force on 23rd October 2019 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months. Traffic affected by the closure will be diverted using the M3 northbound to Junction 10, A31, return to Junction 11 and then use the B3335. The temporary speed limit, hard shoulder running, closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
