THE M4 MOTORWAY AND A419 TRUNK ROAD (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2019
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (a) has madean Order on the M4 motorway and A419 trunk road at Junction 15 in the Borough of Swindon and the County of Wiltshire to enable carriageway widening and all associated maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to take place on or after 1 October 2019 and be completed by
28 March 2021.

The effect of the Order will be:
(a) to impose a temporary mandatory 50 miles per hour speed limit on the slip roads at M4 Junction 15;

(b) to impose a temporary mandatory 40 miles per hour speed limit on the A419 between M4 Junction 15 and Wanborough Road Overbridge, the slip roads at Commonhead Roundabout and the Junction 15 Roundabout;

(c) to impose a temporary mandatory 30 miles per hour speed limit on the M4 Junction 15 Roundabout and the A419 between M4 Junction 15 and Commonhead Roundabout;

(d) to restrict vehicles over 3 metres in width to the nearside lane of the A419 between Junction 15 and Commonhead Roundabout, including the Junction 15 Roundabout and the slip roads at Junction 15 and Commonhead Roundabout;

(e) to prohibit vehicles over 3 metres in width from the length of the A419 and the slip roads described at (c) above;

(f) to prohibit cyclists from length of the A419 and the slip roads described at (c) above;

(g) to authorise the closure of the bus stops 110 metres north of Day House Lane Underbridge;

(h) to authorise the overnight closure (20.00 - 06.00) of the length of the A419 and the slip roads described at (c) above;

(i) to authorise the weekend closure (20.00 Friday to 06.00 Monday) of the length of the A419 and the slip roads described at (c) above;

There will also be hard shoulder running through the works.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency service or special forces vehicles. During the closures traffic will be diverted via Junctions of the M4 and local roads. The temporary mandatory speed limits, closures, hard shoulder running and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works period and will only apply when traffic management measures are in place.
The Order comes into force on
29 September 2019 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
