Highways England
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14
THE A64 TRUNK ROAD (ASKHAM BAR INTERCHANGE TO ASKHAM BRYAN INTERCHANGE)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A64 Trunk Road, in the City of York, to enable removal and construction of traffic island, installation of traffic lights and routine maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on Monday 30 September 2019 for 7 weeks, or until completed, and will take place between 8pm and 6am.
The effect of the Order will be, at times during the works, to:
(i) close or impose a temporary 50mph and at times a 10mph speed restriction on the A64 westbound carriageway from the exit slip road at the A1036 Askham Bar Interchange to the entry slip road at the A1237 Askham Bryan Interchange, a distance of 2362 metres. The 10mph limit will only apply when, for safety reasons, traffic has to be escorted through the works by a highway maintenance vehicle;

(ii) close the A64 westbound exit and entry slip roads at Askham Bryan Interchange;

(iii) close the A64 westbound entry slip road at Askham bar Interchange; and

(iv) ban vehicles from entering or leaving the A64 Askham Bryan westbound exit slip road at its junction with Manor Heath.

During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times. Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 29 September 2019 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
