(HINKSEY HILL TO PEARTREE INTERCHANGE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A34 Trunk Road in the County of Oxfordshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be, in phases, to:-
1. authorise the overnight and 24-hour closure of -

(a) the northbound carriageway of the A34 between Hinksey Hill and Peartree Interchange;

(b) the southbound carriageway of the A34 between Peartree Interchange and Botley Interchange;

(c) all slip roads leading to and from the lengths of carriageway described in 1. (a) and (b) above; and

(d) all side roads at junction with the lengths of carriageway described in 1. (a) and (b) above.

2. impose a 24-hour 50mph speed limit on both carriageways of the A34 between Hinksey Hill and Peartree Interchange, and all slip roads leading to and from this length.

3. impose a 24-hour width restriction of 3.25 metres in lane 1 or 2.75 metres in lane 2 on both carriageways of the A34 between Botley Interchange and Peartree Interchange.

4. authorise the 24-hour closure of any lay-by adjacent to the lengths of carriageway described in 1. (a) and (b) above.

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge works, drainage works, carriageway works, highways maintenance works and all associated works.
It is expected that the work would last for approximately 11 months starting on or after
Thursday 17th October 2019.
The Order would come into force on 15th October 2019 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using the A40, A44, A423 and the A4142. The temporary speed restrictions, narrow lanes, closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
